The experiential exhibition The Improvised Room of Čiurlionis in the cellar of the Čiurlionis House consists of three realms/spaces:

1. The Inevitability of Mundane Life
2. Creativity = Life
3. Peace of Soul

As you circle through these realms/spaces, you will explore different aspects of M. K. Čiurlionis’ life. Sensory tools will be used: aromas, atmospheric music, spatial objects, installations. The installations and objects in each realm/space are part of the experience and can be touched, but please sit only on the chairs provided. We recommend you take your time and allow enough time for each realm/space.

This work is Livija Krivickaitė’s musing on what the realms/spaces of M. K. Čiurlionis’ life and work might have looked like, and what feelings and states they might have evoked in the visitors.

The experiential exhibition stems from the historical material and the memories of contemporaries. The exhibition displays copies of Čiurlionis’ sketches, photographs, letters and sheet music, as well as reproductions of paintings, and features music by Čiurlionis, Urbaitis, V. Barkauskas and Merkelys from M. K. Čiurlionis 125 CD performed by S. Deveikytė-Zubovienė (piano), Rokas Zubovas (piano) and the Vilnius String Quartet: Audronė Vainiūnaitė (1st violin), Artūras Šilalė (2nd violin), Girdutis Jakaitis (viola), Augustinas Vasiliauskas (cello). The author of light installations – Rytis Aliukonis.
