On October 7th, 16 h., Čiurlionis House is inviting to the music and culture afternoon. Prof. Egidijus Aleksandravičius lecture “Art and Artists Friendship During XIX Century’s Spring of the Nations” will discuss importance of artist organisations while modern Central European nation states were forming foundations of their national culture. Vytautas Magnus University professor E. Aleksandravičius is an author of more than 20 books, more than 100 articles, chairperson of various culture organisations and well-known intellectual.
After the lecture, pianists Sonata and Rokas Zubovas and soprano Aušra Liutkutė will invite everyone to premiere of “Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis and Eugenij Morawski – friends at the crossroad of history” concert. These two composers established their friendship in Warsaw Conservatory, later on they kept up their friendship strong by letters especially when Čiurlionis left to study in Leipzig. These letters allowed us to learn about their friendship, to find out about Čiurlionis support for Eugenij while studying. Both friends afterwards continued their studies in Warsaw School of Arts and after repressive Russia tsar’s policies in 1907, their lives turned to different directions.
